The Institute of Linguistics of Chung Cheng University has been engaged in sign language research for more than 20 years. Recently, it was commissioned by the National and Pre-school Education Department of the Ministry of Education to recruit the first batch of Taiwan Sign Language teaching support staff and lecturers in the country to assist in the establishment of a Taiwan Sign Language talent pool. When the National Language Development Law was incorporated into Taiwan Sign Language, coupled with the recent outbreak of COVID-19, sign language interpreters have become the focus, and many people have learned that sign language is a language, too.
