In 2025, Taiwan is about to enter a super-aged society which means 20% of the population will be over 65 years old. "Live long and well" is an important issue of public concern. On the 31st, National Chung Cheng University held the "Response to Super-Aging Society Achievements Sharing Session" at the Intergenerational Coexistence Base in Dounan Town, Yunlin County. Research and development of new agricultural equipment, promotion, and marketing of goose meat with high nutritional value in the goose industry transfer to sheltered workshops hope to prepare for the super-aged society in advance.

In 2021, CCU will enter and operate the Intergenerational Coexistence Base which is the first base for retirement preparation education in Taiwan. Ya-Hui Li, a professor at the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, designs related activities and guides industrial transformation for middle-aged and elderly people in Taiwan. And You-Zai Zhang, Chief Operating Officer of Intergenerational Coexistence Base, connects the local food agriculture industry from planting and processing crops to table delicacies.

Affected by the aging population and declining birth rate, local traditional industries are in urgent need of transformation and new outlets. Ya-Hui Li said that through adult education, traditional industries are guided to adapt to the trend of aging society. Among them, several local successful cases have been guided, including assisting the traditional furniture and agricultural implements industry in the design and production of off-the-ground planting equipment, movable insect-proof net rooms, and friendly seats, labor-saving and labor-saving farm tools to extend farming careers.

You-Zai Zhang mentioned that the improved design of farm tools allows people of all ages to enjoy the pleasure of planting crops in a comfortable and labor-saving way without bending or squatting. Off-the-ground planting can be built in any space. If you want to realize the "idyllic dream", you don't have to live in the countryside, and urbanites can also enjoy the fun of being a farmer. In addition, the CCU team also assists the traditional goose farming industry to highlight the advantages and nutritional value of goose meat and promote it to become a super food for the super-aging society. Goose meat has many benefits to human health. For example, goose meat has a higher content of unsaturated fatty acids, especially the content of linolenic acid than other meats. Goose meat has a lower melting point and soft texture, making it easier to digest. Ya-Hui Li pointed out that the current goose farming industry has shrunk considerably, and there are almost no young people who want to invest in goose meat farming. Therefore, helping the industry understand the needs of the elderly society, and conducting marketing and consumer education based on the characteristics of middle-aged and elderly people can expand the goose meat market.

At the sharing meeting, the CCU team also proposed the upcoming transformation plan for the sheltered workshops in response to the aging issues of adults with disabilities, such as simplifying the production process of farm-processed products, making it easier for people with disabilities to learn processing techniques, so that they can survive the aging process and continue working.

The sharing session attracted many industry-government-academic experts who are concerned about the development of a super-aged society, including Shu-Ya Xie, deputy magistrate of Yunlin County Government, Ming-Yue Li, director of the planning department, Qing-Yi Lian, director of the Changhua Breeding Animal Breeding Farm of the Agriculture Committee of the Executive Yuan, and assistant Researcher Zhi-Zhang Xiao, Dean of Yunlin Penitentiary Institute of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Shu-Xi Liu, Chairman of Daguan Europe International Co., Ltd. Bu-Fei He, General Manager of Zhiling Technology Yu-Yuan Chen came to guide and gave affirmation.
