The Ministry of Science and Technology recently announced the Outstanding Research Award for the 2018 academic year. Zhang Wengong, a professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Chung Cheng University, and Huang Junru, a professor at the General Education Center, both won awards for their research on developing smart grid measurement and uncovering scientific fake news. Chung Cheng University stated that Zhang Wengong is a well-known international scholar in the field of power quality. In recent years, his research has combined machine learning and developed detection methods to reduce the risk of power outages caused by power equipment failures. It is also applied to the prediction of renewable energy power generation. And Huang Junru has been observing how the media presents the connotation of science and technology for many years, analyzing scientific fake news for the public, and his articles have been selected as high school textbooks, rooted in science and media literacy education in Taiwan.
