Entering the AI era, the application of smart manufacturing and smart factories is becoming more and more diversified, in order to cultivate both theory and practice of smart manufacturing and automation professional technical talents, CKSU, Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Huwei University of Science and Technology, Chiayi University, at the invitation of leading server chassis manufacturer, Chin Sheng Xing Yeh, and controller manufacturer, New Generation Technology, formally kicked off the third “Intelligent robotics industry-academic research and learning camp”. The camp will last for 6 weeks, and through the industry's questions, project training, and practical work, it will reduce the gap between learning and utilization, and discover outstanding talents, thus creating a good story of the “Horse of the Hornet” recognizing the “Horse of Thousand Years”.
Today, in the presence of Weng Zhangliang, Mayor of Chiayi County, and Hsieh Shuya, Vice Mayor of Yunlin County, President Tsai Shao-cheng signed a letter of intent on cooperation with Maggie Chen, Chairman of Chin-Sheng Hsing Yeh, and Eugene Tsai, Chairman of New Generation Technology, in the hope that the “Industry-academia Consortium” can be continuously expanded. Through the training camp, we can achieve technical exchanges and practical links, and provide a stage for outstanding young students in southern Taiwan to promote the development of industry-academia cooperation and industrial clusters in southern Taiwan.

We thank all of you for your efforts in creating the competitiveness of Taiwan for the next generation.” said Mayor Weng Zhangliang. Mayor Weng Zhangliang said that the AI trend has permeated all levels of society and will be a major revolution in the industry. Although Chiayi County is a late starter in the AI trend, it has also caught the technology train, such as the Chiayi County Horse Bird Industrial Park can be said to be Taiwan's first introduction to the smart park, and I hope that in the future, no matter whether it is this time to participate in the internship camp of Huwei University of Science and Technology, Yunlin University of Science and Technology, National Cheng Kung University, Chiayi University or Tainan and other areas of the Yunjiagnan circle of life, to be able to keep the talents in the local area.
President Tsai Shao-cheng said, in the outbreak of the epidemic, although all industries are depressed, but there is an industry is surging, because of the urgent need for masks, vaccines, in the case of artificial isolation, intelligent manufacturing this industry immediately and quickly demonstrated its importance. He also pointed out that AI will replace many manual parts, but it is more important to pay attention to the fact that these technologies are still human-centered, how to give back to people, such as food shortages, population aging and other issues, can be assisted by AI technologies such as smart medicine, smart care, health data, and so on, and therefore encouraged students to participate in the competition to think about how to integrate humanities and human nature into the robots.
Chairman Ms. Maggie Chen said that what enterprises need is not only in the classroom but also in the field. In the future, all routine jobs will be replaced, and how to apply machines to the needs of the industry is the primary goal of engineers. I believe that students participating in the camp will be very rewarding, even though they will face high-intensity challenges when they go out into the industrial field, suffering is the best nutrient, and if they can overcome it, they will have a great deal of difference among their peers.
Continuing the idea of cross-domain industry-academia cooperation, this year, the actual needs faced by the Chin-Sheng field to propose the theme of the competition scenario, through the “server chassis low-cost intelligent manufacturing” application scenario, allowing students to propose automation and intelligent solutions to solve the Chin-Sheng Chiayi factory manufacturing process needs. Combined with automation equipment, visual inspection system and visualization kanban to carry out practical work, the final competition to verify the solution's product technology, industrial application, cost-effectiveness and innovative value.
The camp is formed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of National Chung Cheng University and the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of Feng Chia University to form a solid inter-school team, the two teams will compete for the championship on August 10th in the Chin-Sheng Chiayi factory results will be announced, the champion team will receive a maximum of NT$120,000 in winners' prizes, and the members will be able to obtain internships and graduation employment opportunities.
In addition, at the opening of the camp, Prudential also announced a sponsorship of 2 million dollars to support the School of Management to refurbish the classroom environment, and named “Prudential Lecture Hall”, hoping that the end of the year to start the restoration of the fourth Prudential Lecturer next year can be in the “Prudential Lecture Hall” classes. Chin-Sheng and the Department of Business Administration in the early years to join forces to organize the “Chin-Sheng Lecture Hall”, the seminar is widely praised by the students, will be invited to various fields of corporate gurus as lecturers, not only to cultivate the employability of students, but also to allow enterprises to enter the campus early to identify and shape the talents needed by the industry.
Chung Cheng University, said the camp for three years, has trained more than 100 students, this initiative not only to help students accumulate practical experience, interface with the job market.
