Environmental Ethics from the Viewpoint of Green Industry for Climate Action
To promote UN SDG 13 goal for,Provide local education programmes or campaigns on climate change risks, impacts, mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning, National Chung University has implemented the following policy. <p></p>This course aims to make students understand that from the perspective of environmental technology, it is necessary to consider the principle of human production and lifestyles should not exceed environmental tolerance as interpreted by sustainable development and to minimize the consumption of energy and other resources. Besides, the "green industry" is what we are focus on, and it is a green living environment that includes renewable energy, solar photovoltaics, clean production, and energy-saving industries.
Climate Change Adaptation and Disasters Protection
To promote UN SDG 13 goal for,Provide local education programmes or campaigns on climate change risks, impacts, mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning, National Chung University has implemented the following policy. <p></p>The content of the course is tailored to climate change and disaster prevention. The theory is taught, including introducing green buildings, climate change, land use, urban disaster prevention, slope disasters, climate change debugging and disaster prevention, etc.
Soils and Environmental Ecology for Climate Action
To promote UN SDG 13 goal for,Provide local education programmes or campaigns on climate change risks, impacts, mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning, National Chung University has implemented the following policy. <p></p>The field-based course intends to introduce soil morphologies and their ecologic functions to students. Some simple survey methods of soil were also taught to students and implemented by students themselves. Thus, the relationship between soils and climatic changes is revealed, and to be the main teaching purpose through these field-based teaching activities in this course.
Energy Conservation in Government Agencies and Schools
Our school cooperated with the government to implement the "Government Agency and School Energy Conservation Action Plan" (plan period: 2016 ~ 2019) in phases. The plan took 2015 as the base period to increase the overall power consumption efficiency by 4% in 2019. As of 2019, the annual total electricity consumption had decreased by approximately 9.12% compared with 2015, and the CO2 reduction was 1,520,670kg [2,853,095 degrees (the total annual electricity consumption reduction as of 2019 based on 2015) * 0.533 (electricity emission factor in 2018: kg CO2e/degree)].
Future Energy Saving Plan for Climate Action (local)
To promote UN SDG 13 goal for,Participate in co-operative planning for climate change disasters, working with government, National Chung University has implemented the following policy. <p></p>The school cooperated with the government to implement the "Government Agency and School Energy Conservation Action Plan" (2016-2019) and continued to carry out related energy-saving projects to achieve the planned goals. The installation of solar power demonstration teaching facilities in the R506 classroom of the school's common classroom building- the 1.5 kW solar power demonstration facility- was completed on October 7, 2019. Moreover, the smart meter was installed on May 29, 2020.
