With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), National Chung Cheng University has formed an alliance with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, IIT Ropar and Chitkara University to establish an office of the Taiwan-India Joint Research Center on AI at IIT Ropar. They have completed the establishment of space, funding, cooperation model and staffing.
In recent years, the Taiwan-India Joint Research Center on AI has deepened bilateral AI academic exchanges, encouraged cross-border AI innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation, and promoted international AI programs, including dual masters and doctorate degree programs. During the epidemic, the Center led the development of a smart epidemic prevention system, which is now in use in local hospitals in India, proving Taiwan's epidemic prevention capabilities.
Director Pao-Ann Hsiung said that in the next three years, the Taiwan-India Joint Research Center on AI will propose solutions to crises such as groundwater depletion and heavy metal pollution in India, and also use AI to analyze satellite images to help solve air pollution problems caused by burning rice straw and wheat roots in local farmlands.
