Technology self-made education continues to ferment! On the 20th, National Chung Cheng University’s smart robot self-manufacturing base was invited to participate in the Chiayi City Government’s “Smart Coffee Technology Experience Exchange Meeting”. The exhibition of the CCU Robotics Self-Manufacturing Base not only strengthens the link between the school’s students and the local area but also allows people of all ages to experience technology applications in the most friendly way.
Founded in 2018, the Smart Robot Self-Manufacturing Base of Chung Cheng University not only offers relevant courses for current hot fields such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and quantum computers, but also devotes itself to cultivating a student team of makers, and has participated in competitions and achieved outstanding results. Invited by the Smart Technology Department of the municipal government to participate in the "School Self-made Experience Exchange" activity of Smart Cafe. On the 20th, under the leadership of You Baoda, the director of the self-manufacturing base of Chung Cheng University and professor of the Department of Engineering, the student team of the Institute of Economics and Engineering led the undergraduate students to exhibit special achievements such as "Car Boy" and "Magic House".
Among them, "Car Boy" uses virtual mixed reality technology, and puts on the hottest metaverse theme. People wear wearable smart devices and use virtual and real directional control keys to remotely control and move vehicles. The "Magic House" is based on AI deep learning, using video cameras, Raspberry Pi, Home Assistant intelligent control system, through gesture control as if casting magic to create a smart home, and at the same time adding assistive robotic arms to let the public know six Axis robot principle and practical operation.
At the event site, the student team of National Chung Cheng University carefully designed games and competitions for people to learn and challenge. Chung Cheng University’s self-made base pointed out that the student team used the summer vacation to design special topics, hoping to use this exhibition experience to cultivate students’ ability to discover and solve problems and the practical spirit of daring to try and make mistakes, and strengthen the link with the local area. In addition, the mayor of Chiayi City, Huang Minhui, with the explanation and assistance of the CCU team, used the wearable device and personally experienced the immersive mixed reality.
Over the past four years, Chung Cheng University’s Smart Robot Self-Manufacturing Base has successively cooperated with the SUS Satellite Base to promote the smart self-manufacturing talent cultivation plan, and the school’s higher education deepening plan implements "innovative course materials and teaching methods" and "development of innovative and smart teaching models." The base has not only developed 36 courses and produced more than 800 films, but also trained 200 teacher seed teams and benefited more than 4,500 students. Recently, Chung Cheng University's self-made base has cooperated with the Ministry of Education's higher education bilingual policy to assist the school in promoting EMI courses, subsidizing teachers to develop English-taught courses, cultivating STEM talents, and promoting cross-domain learning courses, hoping to implement the school-wide learning by doing curriculum indicators. CCU self-made base stated that in the future, it will continue to cooperate with the Jiashi government to promote self-made education in science and technology to take root and expand the influence of CKC campus resources.
