National Chung Cheng University (CCU) and Yunlin County Government formally signed a cooperation agreement. Through resource sharing and cooperation between the academic and public sectors, the Dounan Reciprocal Hub for Old and Young will be built into the best demonstration base that meets the needs of the elderly society.
Yunlin is currently the second aging county in Taiwan. It not only faces the impact of aging, but also has the problem of declining birth rates. Therefore, CCU and the Yunlin County Government have worked together to establish a Reciprocal Hub.
Through the cooperation with CCU, the Dounan Reciprocal Hub for Old and Young assists in the development of agricultural products and the promotion of health and nutrition knowledge, provides more services for the elderly, helping people enjoy their retirement life more comfortably and with more dignity.
The Hub is operated with adult education as the core and the sixth-industrialization of food and farming as the connotation. Cooperating with non-governmental food and farming groups to introduce CCU’s rich experience of long-term accumulation in aquaculture and agricultural products and research results to assist Reciprocal Hub for Old and Young to achieve the diversified development that meets the needs of the elderly society and optimize the service goals of intergeneration’s life.
Currently, the Reciprocal Hub for Old and Young has developed a variety of innovative models, including planning target crops based on the nutritional needs of the elderly to avoid imbalances in production and sales, assisting traditional farmers to transform into cloud e-commerce through digital learning, and helping discharged or retired employers explore micro-entrepreneurship to encourage them to continue to work and continue to get income. In addition, the base also has a farmer's direct selling station, which serves as a selling platform for small farmers' friendly crops. There is a retirement life market on holidays and provides a platform for middle-aged and elderly people who transfer to the food and farming industry after retirement to sell goods.
