SDGs in Actions with World Bamboo Organization (student volunteering programmes)

Cooperating with non-governmental organizations to jointly promote UN SDGs activities, Chung Cheng University (CCU)and the World Bamboo Organization (WBO, headquartered in the United States) jointly promote the development of the bamboo industry in countries around the world. <p></p>Hope that through this cooperation can be achieved:<br> 1. Chung Cheng University joins the WBO;<br> 2. WBO members from all over the world can come to visit CCU for their bamboo technology;<br> 3. CCU participates the 2020/2021 World Bamboo Congress activities;<br> 4. CCU will give a keynote speech at the 2020/2021 World Bamboo Congress to share SDGs promotion experience;<br> 5. Work together to promote SDGs with bamboo as the main axis.<br>

Local Bamboo Ecology Investigate in India Northeast State and SDGs promotion

<b>This project is a work of international cooperation data collection for CCU's sustainable development goals. The goal is to understand the current development of the bamboo industry in the rural tribes of the Northeast State of India, and how to solve climate change and poverty through the development of the bamboo industry. </b><p></p> This project is jointly implemented by Chung Cheng University, the China National Cooperation Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nantou Green Bamboo Cultural Park and the South Asian Bamboo Foundation in India. The arrangement of relevant data collection and demonstration is as follows:<br> 1. Visit the government of Nagaland, the bamboo industry development center and bamboo farmers in India;<br> 2. Visit the government of Manipur State, bamboo manufacturers and farmers;<br> 3. Visiting bamboo manufacturers and farmers in Assam, India;<br> <p></p> The itinerary will also hold relevant SDGs symposiums and consultation meetings to provide references for the local government to plan the future development of the bamboo industry.

2019 Taiwan University Social Responsibility (USR) EXPO

To develop the relationships with NGOs and government for SDG policy, National Chung Cheng University host an Substability Forum in the 2019 Taiwan USR EXPO which organized by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan. <p></p> <b>Content of the Forum:</b> <br> Dr. Shiming (Jack) Huang, Director of Research and Development National Chung Cheng University served as the chair of the forum. Miss Helen Schuler from PWC, Australia, Mr. Kamesh from South Asia Bamboo Foundation, India and Dr. Alim from the University of Yogyakarta, Indonesia join the discussion of the Forum. The major theme of the Forum is to discuss the future SDGs education in University. It is from different perspectives, such as enterprise, NOG, and university to provides suggestions to the government.

Section 2.4.2 Indentify the staging of Esophageal Cancer through Hyper-spectral Imaging (HSI)

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report section 2.4.2 page 19 highlights the following event as Good Health and Well-being to achieve the SDGs.<p></p> Esophageal cancer is not easy to detect in the early stage, and the detection effect is insufficient; it is usually too late while the cancer is confirmed. Wang Xiangchen, a mechanical engineering professor at Chung Cheng University, worked with doctors at the Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital to analyze pathological images. Then the Chung Cheng team proposed a set of ""identification of intraesophageal visual imaging features analysis method ""to identify cancer changes and point out the stage of esophageal cancer. The technical accuracy rate is as high as 85%. In addition to having obtained patent benefits from Taiwan and the United States, the essay is also published in the international journal science report. It is also combining AI and looking forward to assisting doctors in consultation and consulting doctors in time.

CCU University Social Responsibility (USR) Advisory Committee

The major objectives of CCU University Social Responsibility (USR) Advisory Committee is to cretae a communication and dialogue pltaform with the government, enterprises and non-governmental organizations to promote UN SDGs actions. CCU has established a USR Advisory Committee to invite high-level executives from the government, NGOs, enterprises and other universities to join the committee. This platform meets at least once every six months to jointly establish a dialogue and cooperation platform to promote USR/SDGs. There are 20 Advisory committee members which include the Chiayi City Government, Chiayi County Government, Yunlin County Government, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education and other government organizations, local NGOs and enterprises. This event was specially held in conjunction with the SDGs on the 09/18 World Bamboo Day, and demonstrated the achievements of Chung Cheng University in promoting USR/SDGs in the past year.

USR Field and Teaching Strategy

In order to provide an inter-departmental dialogue on sustainable development goals for each school, Dr. Huang Shiming, Director of Research and Development of National Chung Cheng University, attend the USR Project Leaders Consensus Workshop for South Taiwan area which host by the Ministry of Education. Dr. Huang has invited to do a talk on "Strategy of Combination of Field and Teaching" with the workshop. <p></p> Various project leaders whose universities is located in Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan county have participated in the workshop. The workshop reach the following consensus:<br> 1. Related SDGs training courses should continue to be connected from the fundamental level to the advanced level. <br> 2. Let the students do it deliberately, so that it will not deteriorate after a long time. <br> 3. The ideality of the project plan needs to be revised or PDCA on a rolling basis. <br> 4. Need to design a course map and teaching method to meet the SDGs goal.

Section 2.4.2 Prostate Cancer Therapy Method

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report section 2.4.2 page 19 highlights the following event as Good Health and Well-being to achieve the SDGs.<p></p> During long-term cooperation with the Department of Urology of Chiayi Christian Hospital, Zhang De Ching, a professor of the Department of Biomedical Sciences of Chung Cheng University, recently used the protein of mimic human poly tumorigenic virus as a gene therapy vector. Can target adenocarcinoma cells and effectively inhibit tumor growth, was in the ""Cancer Gene Therapy"" journal.

SDGs in Action with South Asia Bamboo Foundation, India (research programmes)

<b>Cooperating with non-governmental organizations to jointly promote UN SDGs activities</b>, Chung Cheng University and the South Asian Bamboo Foundation of India jointly promote the initiative of using bamboo to replace new trees in South Asia and promote UN SSGs activities, including:<br> 1. Visits and meetings of South Asia Bamboo Foundation, India and Negaland Bamboo Industry Development Association, India;<br> 2. The two parties signed an MOU ceremony to announce the SDGs development strategy;<br> 3. Participate in Taiwan's USR EXPO forum as a negotiator, and advocate bamboo SDGs activities;<br> 4. Promote the use of natural bamboo in the Northeast State of India to participate in SDGs, such as the construction of natural bamboo toilets and the extended application of bamboo charcoal in the Clean India project.<br>

Section 2.4.2 Chung-Cheng Intergenerational to Co-Living Park

2019 National Chung University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report page 18 highlight the following event as our Partnerships to achieve the SDGs.<p></p> This project is a Taiwan-Japan cooperation agreement with the Japanese Nara ELYSION Group. To set up its first demonstration base in Chiayi County within three years is the priority. A residential building for the elderly, a joint clinic, a senior learning base, a daycare center, a health care center, and an age-friendly product exhibiting area will all be included in one unit. Moreover, we aim to provide a solution to the long-term care issues for the elderly with the medical care experience from Japan and the teaching resource from CCU. And give the aged people to have a healthier and happier life.

Section 2.4.2 Taiwan-India Joint Research on Artificial Intelligence

2019 National Chung University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report page 18 highlight the following event as our Partnerships to achieve the SDGs.<p></p> With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), our school associate with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) and Chitkara University to set up an Indo-Taiwan Joint Research Center on Artificial Intelligence in IIT Ropar. The goals of the research center are three-folds, including the establishment of a Joint AI Lab at IIT Ropar, a Joint Incubation Center at Chitkara University, and Joint International Programs on AI at both universities. As a unique research center jointly established by Taiwan and India, this research center will play a major role in not only creating a lucrative and technically strong environment for collaborative efforts among the academia and the industry in both of our countries, Taiwan and India.

Section 3.7.1 Student Daily- Life Guidance

</p>2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report section 3.7.1 page 50-51 highlights the following event as No Poverty to achieve the SDGs.<p> In order to assist economically disadvantaged students, and those who encounter sudden family changes to study with no concern, National Chung Cheng University offers students tuition and fee reduction or exemption, underprivileged student aid plan, and school loan processing according to the Ministry of Education policy.In addition, the school provides appropriate funding for student education. School Affairs Office of Life Affairs Section, implements support programs such as ""Student Life Grants"", ""Free Accommodation for Low-income Households"", ""Emergency Assistance Funds"", and gives priority to on-campus accommodation for students with special difficulties, etc. After the establishment of the ""Indigenous Student Resource Center"" of our school, we actively assist the daily-life guidance of aboriginal students.
