Section 3.3 High-quality industry-academia Cooperation

Through industries propose questions and academia solve problems, Ministry of Science and Technology encourages domestic enterprises to form alliances and jointly invest in forward-looking technology research and development with the academic and research circles to narrow the gap between industry and academia and strengthen the key patent layout.On this basis, National Chung Cheng University combines interdisciplinary teams with outstanding academic research to promote the integration of Interdisciplinary Research Center and construct an interactive platform for the research community. Moreover, the school implies school-level integrated research projects to enhance the school research and development capabilities. In addition, they also integrate on-campus research teams actively and cooperate with industry, research institutions, and universities to create new knowledge and technology. Section 3.6.2 The Employability Improvement for Disabled Students

CCU Counseling Center aims to improve disabled students adaptation through counselling services. After the Ministry of Education passes the disability certification application, we can help students in many aspects, such as provide them with resources on academic, living, mental, career, and social adaptation. With students supporting service plans, the counsellors will track students conditions on interpersonal adaptation, school work guidance, emotion supporting, and career consultation.

Section3.4.1 Service­-Learning Course

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section3.4.1 page 36-39 highlights the following event as Substainable Cities and Communities to achieve the SDGs. The active holding of Service-Learning Courses in 108 year demands college students to do the off-campus volunteer work at least 16 hours before they graduate. Student-run groups would be able to integrate the interdisciplinary knowledge and professionality, and also connect the industry and culture of the community through the Service-Learning course. Students participation in social responsibility, community sharing, and local improvement is going to expand their passion for service out of campus and to know the social issues in order to improve their self-learning and progressing. The target training on assistants creative thinking, communication, personal integration ability enables the assistants to help the students doing the off-campus service. The cooperation with local social welfare agencies, community development organizations, and nearby junior high and elementary schools, etc. in total 29 cooperation units in 108 years are sustainably promoting the Service-Learning courses up to 20 classes and 800 people taking the course (please make it into images) to practice our school motto “Actively innovate, Xiu Deze people” and the idea of college social responsibility.

Section 6.3 Social Concern

2019 National Chung University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 6.3 page 109-114 highlights the following event as Substainable Cities and Communities to achieve the SDGs. (1) Art Exhibition Promotion Activities : CCU Arts and Culture Center committed to creating high-quality Arts Experience Field for school teachers, students, and Yunlin-Chiayi region residents. By shows and exhibition activities (exhibitions, music, dance etc.), art seminars, film festivals, lectures, and workshops, can broaden the art horizon of teachers, students and residents in the neighbourhoods. By promoting art activities and linking them with local cultures, we hope to express social concern. (2) Community Service and Interaction : For strengthening the interaction between the school and the societies as well as the connection with the local culture, the school has formed National Chung Cheng University Association. By exchanging rich academic resources with the local enterprises and the community, a great amount of social resources was collected. With the group of people who are not even the alumnus but care about school (SME owners and the elites from all kinds of businesses) push forward the development of school affairs and promot the industry-academia cooperation, making the community of our school become wider.

Section 6.1.2 USR Bamboo and Bamboo Charcoal Innovation-Sustainable Consumption and Production

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 6.1.2 page 94-95 highlights the following event as Responsible Consumption and Production to achieve the SDGs. Take the local bamboo industry as a local university social practice and industrial linkage, cultivating the social responsibility of interdisciplinary talents in the industry chain, and guiding the upgrading and transformation of the bamboo industry. Teaching research, talent cultivation, and internationalization combined with Sustainable Development Goals as the ladder actively creates a space for the soft power of Taiwan Bamboo Industry to be in line with international academics and industries. Use technology to upgrade the industrial output value application as the main axis and provide opportunities for student internship research and innovation. Motivate interdisciplinary students to combine different professions; upgrade industry and cultivate regional practical talents to achieve talent docking; and to lead students to recognize the goals of technicalization and Informatization, solving local issues and create industrial value.

Section 7.1.11 Waste Treatment

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 7.1.11 page 127 highlights the following event as Responsible Consumption and Production to achieve the SDGs. The following are some concrete solutions to the school waste: (1)   Customized instruction is done in every school unit to improve waste sorting, waste reducing, and resource recovering in order to accomplish reducing the school waste and promote recycling. (2)   Outsources school ordinary refuse to keep the campus clean and enhance the quality of life of the faculties and staffs. (3)   Outsources manufacturers which are accredited by the Environmental Protection Administration to clean up the experimental waste liquid, experimental infectious waste, chemical waste, experimental waste glass, and animal carcass.

Section 7.1.3 Energy Conservation in Government Agencies and Schools

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 7.1.3 page 117 highlights the following event as Climate Action to achieve the SDGs. Our school cooperated with the government to implement the ""Government Agency and School Energy Conservation Action Plan"" (plan period: 2016 ~ 2019) in phases. The plan took 2015 as the base period to increase the overall power consumption efficiency by 4% in 2019. As of 2019, the annual total electricity consumption had decreased by approximately 9.12% compared with 2015, and the CO2 reduction was 1,520,670kg [2,853,095 degrees (the total annual electricity consumption reduction as of 2019 based on 2015) * 0.533 (electricity emission factor in 2018: kg CO2e/degree)].

Section 7.1.7 Future Energy Saving Plan

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 7.1.7 page 120-121 highlights the following event as Climate Action to achieve the SDGs. The school had cooperated with the government to implement the ""Government Agency and School Energy Conservation Operation Plan"" (2016 ~ 2019) and has continued to carry out related energy-saving projects to achieve the planned goals. In addition, the R506 classroom solar power demonstration teaching facility of our school joint classroom building, which was “the 1.5 kW solar power demonstration facility” was completed on October 7, 2019. The power generation data can be uploaded to the cloud data collector and integrated with various data such as wind and solar hybrid street light power generation data. The electricity generated by this device is converted into alternating current for the R506 classroom. Smart meters have been installed on May 29, 2020. Section 7.1.9 Create an Ecological Campus

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 7.1.9 page 122-124 highlights the following event as Life on Land to achieve the SDGs. The school concept when it was founded was to emphasize the establishment of a standardized system, the construction of a living environment, and the balanced development of the campus natural ecological culture. In terms of environmental construction, the school attaches great importance to the greening and beautifying of the campus. In addition to commissioning professional landscape architects for the overall design, contracting construction, and inviting the Forestry Bureau and the county government to provide seedlings. They also actively sought for local enthusiasts to donate enormous trees. Currently, more than one hundred thousand flowers and trees have been planted in the 132 hectares of the school campus.

Section 2.5 Financial Status

2019 National Chung Cheng University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report Section 2.5 page 21-22 highlights the following event as Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions to achieve the SDGs. The total business revenue in 2019 was 2,858,136,309 NTD. Among these incomes, teaching income (including tuition and miscellaneous fee income, tuition and miscellaneous fee exemptions, construction and education cooperation income, and extension education income) totalled 1,284,054,003 NTD; other business revenue (including school teaching and research subsidy income, other subsidy income and miscellaneous business income) totalled 1,366,191,724 NTD. Royalty income was 9,427,556 NTD; non-business revenue was 198,463,026 NTD. The total business expenditure in 2019 was 3,137,716,153 NTD. Among these expenses, a total of teaching cost was 2,365,591,607 NTD (including teaching research and training costs, work-study program costs, and education promoting costs); other business costs (including students public expenses and incentives), management, general expenses and other business expenses (miscellaneous business expenses), totalled 631,393,832 NTD; non-business expenses totalled 167,730,714 NTD. The fund shortage of the year 2019 was 245.579,844 NTD.
